Musical Dialogues — Andrew Staygold & Melanie Baux

September 19, 2021 @ 8:00 pm

In this continuing series, Aurora Borin invites local musicians to join her on stage to share their talents and musical styles as well as speak a bit about themselves and their musical journey. This weeks invited guests include Andrew Staygold and Melanie Baux.

Andrew Staygold

Enamored by the mountains and skiing as well as influenced by the local and international characters that call this mountain town home, Andrew has been living a lifestyle ever since he arrived in Banff a small lifetime ago.  What started as plucking the guitar in staff accom after work has developed into a career as an audio technician and entertainer.  Experienced from performing on stages around the Bow Valley, he enjoys adding a soulful touch to his folk, rock, country style.

Melanie Baux

Soprano Melanie Baux has always loved being surrounded by music. Melanie has a Diploma in Music Performance from Mount Royal University and a Bachelor of Music Performance from the University of Manitoba. She has appeared on stage in Opera’s, concert and recitals across Canada. Melanie is a sought-after private voice teacher, clinician, artist in residence and adjudicator. As well, she is Artistic Director of Swamp Donkey Musical Theatre Society. Melanie is passionate about nurturing confidence, connection and community through music. She loves spending time with her three amazing sons, husband, family and students. Melanie is so excited to share some of her favorite songs tonight at The Radiant.

Aurora Borin

Aurora is an inter-sectional feminist, queer, socialist, geek, cosplayer, Wiccan priestess, gamer, dog lover, gamer, and more. She proudly takes the label “Social Justice Warrior” and is absolutely the kind of person you’ve been warned about. She is a successful career musician and is highly acclaimed throughout Calgary and the Bow Valley for her abilities as a collaborative pianist and educator. Her work has been described as brilliant, but more to her liking, she was once called a “Force of Nature”. She is honoured to be trusted to support and work with young musicians as they develop into mature artists and humans.
