“One of the newest to fit that bill is The Radiant, which opened on Banff Avenue in June. Now, the prospect of a group of young entrepreneurs opening a new business on the town’s busiest strip may sound unlikely, but The Radiant has a back story worthy of the historical building it sits in. Co-owner Sebastian Hutchings is the great-grandson of Byron Harmon, a pioneering force in the town of Banff who is particularly famed for his role as the official photographer for the Alpine Club of Canada in the early 1900s. The now 110-year-old Harmons Building served as Harmon’s studio and has remained in the family over the generations, most often leased out to a series of gift shops and other small businesses.”
